Monday, January 24, 2000, updated at 11:15(GMT+8) World Chinese Vice-Premier Concludes Visit to Britain LONDON, January 23 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice-Premier Wu Bangguo concluded his official visit to Britain on January 23 and left here for Belgium to continue his three-nation European tour. Mrs. Anne Morrison, the British foreign secretary's representative and Chinese Ambassador to Britain Ma Zhengang saw the Chines vice-premier off at Waterloo Railway Station. Wu, who arrived in London on January 18, took the "Eurostar" express train to Brussels through the Channel Tunnel. During his visit in Britain, Wu held talks with British Deputy Prime Minister John Presscot and met with Prime Minister Tony Blair and Secretary of State for Trade and Industry Stephen Byers. The Chinese vice-premier also visited some world-famous multi-national corporations, including the Unilever Research Colworth, the Rolls-Royce, Shell, the BAE Systems, the BPAmoco as well as the Glenkinchie Disitillery. Britain was the first leg of Wu's three-nation European tour which will also take him to Belgium and Switzerland. He will also visit the European Union headquarters and attend the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
