China's production of energy dropped in the January-November period last year, according to the latest figures released by the National Bureau of Statistics.

Total energy production in the first 11 months amounted to 932.74 million tons of standard coal equivalent, down 6.6 percent from the same 1998 period.

Production of coal dropped 10.3 percent to 866.66 million tons, while that of gasoline grew 8.3 percent to 33.60 million tons.

In the meantime, power output increased 6.4 percent to 1.08 trillion kwh. The output of thermal power output amounted to 886.71 billion kwh, up 7.0 percent on an annual basis, and that of hydro-electric power output edged up 3.4 percent to 181.56 billion kwh.
