Sci-Tech CNNIC to Build Online Chinese Domain Name System

The China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC) has announced that it would began building an online Chinese domain system starting now and for the first six months, it would not charge any management expenses.

To avoid conflicts in domain names and protect the interests of the registered domain name user, the CNNIC has established temporary regulatory procedures.

Yan Yixun, vice president of Chinese Academy of Sciences, says that this is a big event in the history of the Internet, which will have an enormous impact on Chinese around the world because it is not only about the competition for domain resources, it is also about the values of Chinese and Western culture.

Experts say that a widespread Chinese domain system would be more convenient for Chinese Internet users and expand the domain resources.
