Sci-Tech CASS Sets Future Academic Goals

The Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) tries all out to upgrade academic level so as to make new breakthroughs in 2000.

In accordance with reform measures which were set by the CASS annual work meeting, leading researchers for specific studies must take full responsibility for academic progress and financial allocation, CASS sources said in Beijing on January.

Meanwhile, the academy will draw on concerned regulations for safeguarding smooth reform.

The CASS authorities also plan to closely oversee research on the national key studies, including the 50 ones specially chosen for the Ninth Five-Year Plan (1996-2000) period.

In 1999, the CASS published 472 books, 3,469 theses, 709 academic reports, 43 textbooks and others. (Xinhua)
