Sci-Tech CASS President Urges to Set Modern Advanced Management System

Li Tieying, President of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee China's highest learning institution of social sciences, urged his fellow researchers to solve those problems which are most critical to the building of socialism with Chinese characteristics. He also called on the country's top think tank to make major academic breakthroughs that can assist government policy-making.

Li said this at the annual working conference of the CASS.

In the coming decade, some CASS institutions should become world-leaders in their fields, and CASS must cultivate a few outstanding social scientists of international renown.

As the most important base for training senior professionals, CASS should focus on research into Marxism and Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought and Deng Xiaoping Theory, economic reform and development, socialist legislation and social development, Chinese culture, and world issues and international strategies, Li stressed.

Wang Luolin, vice-president of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) also said that a plan for reforming the existing management system would be worked out late this year.

CASS should make more research achievements and upgrade its academic level, he said.

Starting from this year, CASS will invite public applications for some of its key research projects, according to Wang.

In order to carry out more effective academic exchange with outside world, Wang said his academy is to host this year several international symposia which will invite world-famous experts to attend.
