China Macao SAR Procurators Hold First Plenary Meeting

Ho Chio Meng, procurator-general of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) of China, said on January 17 that procurators of the SAR should exert utmost efforts to guarantee the rule by law in the newly-established SAR.

At the first plenary meeting of the procurators, Ho noted that procurators play an important role in the legal system of the Macao SAR.

"Without the work of procurators, laws might be misused," he said.

Social progress will bring forward new demands for procurators, who in turn will meet new challenges, Ho Chio Meng said. All procurators should exert utmost efforts to shoulder the heavy task at present and create a promising future for Macao, he said.

In accordance with a decree from the Chief Executive of the Macao SAR Ho Hau Wah, Ho gave the procurators certificates which symbolize that they have officially taken up their posts.
