Sci-Tech China's First Tibetan Language Website Opens

The first Tibetan language website on the Internet opened recently in Lanzhou, capital of northwest China's Gansu Province.

The website -- www.tonguer.net or www.gs.cninfo.net -- features the history, language, culture, religion, medicine, folk customs, arts, painting and landscape of Tibet in Tibetan language and pictures.

Visitors can study the Tibetan language and Tibet's history and achievements through the website.

The opening of the website is a scientific research result of a group led by professor Yu Hongzhi at Northwest China Institute for Ethnic Groups.

The Tibetan ethnic group has a long history and a population of 5 million. Tibetans mainly live in southwest China' s Tibet Autonomous Region and Qinghai and Gansu Provinces in northwest China.
