China Shanghai Police Seize Amphetamines

Police in China's leading industrial city of Shanghai recently seized more than 5,000 MDMA tablets, an amphetamine drug. This is the largest number of MDMA tablets ever seized in the city, according to police sources.

Police detained eight people involved in the case. The ring had smuggled MDMA tablets from abroad and sold them to young people at a local dance hall.

Police also tracked down and seized 160,000 RMB yuan, 16,000 Hong Kong dollars, two smuggled cars and four mobile phones which were used for the drug trafficking.

Chinese call MDMA the "shaking head pill" because it stimulates the nervous system, causing users to become sexually excited and to shake their heads violently.
