World Pakistan President Greets China on Eve of New Millennium

Pakistani President Rafiq Tarar has greeted the government and the people of China on the eve of the new millennium.

In a written reply to questions from Chinese correspondents based here, the president said Pakistan and China look forward to entering the new millennium as strategic partners.

Tarar said Sino-Pakistan relations have stood the test of time and these are based on a shared vision of peaceful, just and coercion-free world, where all nations, big or small, enjoy freedom to progress in accordance with the aspirations of their people.

He hoped that the reunification process initiated with the resumption of Chinese sovereignty over Hong Kong and Macao will soon be completed with the return of Taiwan to Chinese sovereignty.

Tarar noted with happiness that the beginning of the new millennium coincided with the 50th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. During these 50 years," the industrious people of China, under the wise guidance of their leaders, have made enviable progress," he added.
