Business Chinese-Made Refrigerators Exported to US

Some 125,000 environmentally-friendly refrigerators made by the Xinfei Electric Co. Ltd. in central China's Henan Province will be exported to the US with the help of the US-based General Electric (GE).

Liu Bingyin, president of the Xinfei Co., and Wang Jianmin, chairman and chief of executives (COE) of the GE (China), are delighted with the partnership and hope for further cooperation in the future.

Wang said that GE will increase its imports. The growth rate of imports for 1999 is more than 50 percent over last year and is expected to reach 80 percent within the next two or three years, he added.

GE's imports accounted for one fourth of US trade worth 100.5 billion USdollars last year. GE chose to work with Xinfei -- one of three main refrigerator manufacturers in China -- because they were satisfied with its operations, quality and productive techniques.

Xinfei Co. has made enormous efforts to develop environmentally- friendly products. It is expected to increase the refrigerator exports to 300,000 refrigerators next year, said Liu.

GE and Hefei Co. will work in still closer cooperation to promote and develop household electric appliances.
