China Qian Qichen Meets Taiwan Visitors

Chinese Vice Premier Qian Qichen met with a delegation from the Chinese Commercial and Industrial Coordination Society of Taiwan on December 23.

Qian, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Chinese Communist Party Central Committee, said during the meeting that economic, trade, and commercial ties between the mainland and Taiwan have developed rapidly over the past decade.

The recently issued rules for implementing the Law on Protecting Investment of Taiwan Compatriots will create more favorable conditions for economic exchanges and cooperation across the Taiwan Straits, he added.

Taiwan compatriots are welcome to continue to invest in the mainland and make contributions to the establishment of direct mail service, trade, and air and shipping services across the Taiwan Straits, Qian said.

Also attending the meeting were Chen Yunlin, director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, Tang Shubei, executive vice president of the Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits, and Yu Xiaosong, president of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT).

The delegation arrived here Wednesday at the invitation of the CCPIT.
