With a preface by Premier Zhu Rongji, a new documentary account of Chin's economy, "Laying the Foundation -- 50 Years of New China's Economy," has been published by the China Financial and Economic Publishing House.

The volume was compiled by dozens of senior directors and experts of governmental departments and theory and policy research centers.
