Education Henan Receives Donations for Education

Over the past ten years, central China's Henan Province has received 110 million yuan of overseas donations in cash or in kind for local educational development.

The donations, mainly from overseas Chinese and Hong Kong and Macao compatriots, have helped the province set up 145 primary schools, 34 middle schools, one teachers' school and three

libraries, according to a local education official.

The donated money was also used to buy books and teaching materials and to help fund scholarships.

A number of students from poverty-stricken families in such cities as Nanyang, Kaifeng, Louyang and Zhumadian have benefited from the assistance.
