Sports Tang Shines in Badminton Challenge

After two day's dull competition in Xiamen, the curtain fell on the 99' Motorola Badminton Challenge tournaments on Saturday, with fresh face Tang Chunyu reaping two straight victories in the women's singles, and veterans Ji Xinpeng and Luo Yigang winning easily in the men's doubles, China Daily reported on December 20.

After beating in-form challenger Dong Fang's strong winning run in Friday's contest, Tang, a young player from the national team B, launched a fierce attack to destroy world No 5 Zhou Mi with a 21-16, 21-17 win.

Saturday's men's doubles witnessed a dominant winning performance from Ji and Luo, undisputed main forces of the national team. They overwhelmed Xiao Li and Fan Yong 21-19, 21-8.

Xiao/Fan beat Lin Ying/Chen Yu 21-14, 21-11 on Friday
