An exhibition of calligraphic works and paintings featuring Macao and Macao's return to China was opened in Macao on December 13 afternoon.

The works were created by calligraphers and painters from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macao, the Untied States and Canada. Over the last two years, they have been invited in Macao to see Macao for themselves for their artistic creation. Macao returns to China on December 20.

On exhibit are 30 calligraphic works and 121 traditional Chinese paintings. An album containing all of them has come off the press.

The calligraphic works sing praise of Macao's charm or feature its upcoming return to China. The paintings depict Macao's cultural sites and folk customs and reflect Macao's cultural diversity.

Organized by the Macao Association of Chinese Culture and Art and the Guangdong Association for Promoting Chinese Culture, the exhibition will last till December 17.

Edmund Ho Hau Wah, chief executive-designate of the Macao Special Administrative Region, attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
