World Chinese Vice-Premier Mourns Late Croatian President

Chinese Vice-Premier Qian Qichen went to the Croatian Embassy in Beijing to mourn the death of Croatian President Franjo Tudjman.

On behalf of the Chinese government, Qian expressed his profound sadness and wrote in the condolence book that President Tudjman was a renowned and active statesman who made indelible merits for Croatia and its people, and also made an important contribution to promoting Sino-Croatian friendship and cooperation.

Chinese Minister of Health Zhang Wenkang, Vice-President Chen Haosu of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, and Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Guchang were also at the embassy to mourn the death of Tudjman.

The Special Envoy of the Chinese government Chen Zhili, who is Minister of Education, left for Croatia Sunday morning to attend President Tudjman's funeral. (Xinhua)
