Sci-Tech Environment-Friendly Power Plant Operational in East China

An environmentally sound power plant recently became operational in Nanjing, capital of east China's Jiangsu Province.

The Xiaguan Power Plant, at a cost of 1.5 billion yuan (about 180 million US dollars), is a key construction project listed by the state during the Ninth Five-Year-Plan period (1996-2000).

The plant's two 125,000-kw generators produce 1.37 billion kwh annually.

To protect the environment and reduce sulfur dioxide and suspended particles, the plant has introduced advanced desulphurizing technology and water-cleaning circulation equipment.
