Business Chinese Vice Premier Emphasize Active Fiscal Policy

Chinese Vice Premier Li Lanqing on Deceomber called for concrete measures to continue the government's active fiscal policy for next year.

Li, also member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, made the call at a national conference on fiscal policies, which opened in Beijing on Deceomber 8.

The insufficient domestic demand still creates a major problem for the country's economy next year, the vice premier noted. After weighing the pros and cons, the CPC Central Committee and the State Council have decided to continue to pursue an active fiscal policy, he said.

This policy will greatly affect the fate of the state-owned enterprises, industrial restructuring, sustained development and long-term prosperity and stability of the nation, Li said.

Financial departments all over the country should make more efforts and ensure the policy is implemented fully, Li said.

Li also asked the departments to further coordinate the role of fiscal and monetary policies for the fast growth of the national economy. (Xinhua)
