Sci-Tech Military Museum Receives Gold Foil Carried by Spaceship

On the morning of December 7, The Chinese Military Museum received a piece of gold foil which was carried into space by the spacecraft "Shenzhou" and will put it on display in an exhibition hall designed for the return of Macao to the motherland.

As one of the 1,001 pieces of gold foil from Shenzhou, which means "magic vessel," the piece that will be on view in the museum is 15cm long, 10cm wide and weighs six grams. This piece is specially numbered 1999.

The design etched on the foil is of the launching and flight of "Shenzhou", and on its upper left corner are the Chinese characters of "Shenzhou" written by President Jiang Zemin.

China will present 500 pieces of the gold foil to state organizations and people that made outstanding contributions to the space launch, and the other 500 will be sold by the China Space Flight Foundation to support the development of China's aerospace industry.
