The Pierre Cardin Company will train a well-known Chinese fashion enterprise in techniques of European-style clothing design, according to a letter of intent signed between the two sides recently.

The famous French fashion house will also increase orders for materials from the Sanmao Group, in east China's Jiangsu province, and act as Sanmao's sole sales agent in Europe, according to the agreement.

Sanmao Group started cooperation with Pierre Cardin four years ago by providing 20 percent of Pierre Cardin's exclusive materials.

Fabric and designs used by Sanmao, which have a distinct European flair, attracted the attention of designer Pierre Cardin, who came to China several times to negotiate cooperative projects.

In September, Sanmao opened a boutique on the Champs Elysees in Paris.

The Pierre Cardin Company reportedly has about 30 sales agents in China, with more than 100 shops in over 20 large and medium- sized cities in China. (Xinhua)
