Business European Animated Films Compete for Chinese Market

China is the largest potential market in the eyes of the EM.TV company, the giant European animated film producer, said Uwe Kraeuter, chairman of Asia World Network. Ltd, an agent of EM.TV.

EM.TV, the largest company among all the 120 attending the Kids World'99 from November 23 to 28, brought along more than 1,000 animated cartoons, including the well-known "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland," "Heidi," and new ones like "Poochin's Yard," and " Rascal" to the exhibition.

Kraeuter said that China has nearly 300 million people below the age of 17, the target age group for animated films, and European makers are continuing to get their share of this huge market.

The series "Twipsy" shown on CCTV (China Central Television) is one of their products, with its main character an animal that wanders the Internet. "Both the content and the character are very creative," commented Kraeuter. (Xinhua)
