Sci-Tech China's Largest Magnetic Card Company

With a 45 percent share of China 's bank cards market, the G and D Wanda Co. is by far the largest such business in the country.

The Sino-Germany joint venture was founded with a 10 million U. S. dollar investment in Huangshi City in central China's Hubei rovince in 1995, and now has the capacity to produce 60 million PVP cards, 10 million intelligence cards, and 10 million photoelectric cards annually.

These products have been authorized by the Bank of China, Master-Card International, and Visa International Service Association.

With technology introduced from Germany's G and D Co., which holds a 65 percent interest in the company, Wanda is the only company in China that can produce mobile phone cards, ending the country's dependence on the imports. Now, it is the sole supplier for China Telecom, China Unicom, China Jitong Information Network Co., and China Mobile Phone Co.

China has witnessed a ballooning demand for financial cards with their number increasing at a rate of 60 percent to 100 million cards this year. The number of IC cards, which were introduced in China only three years ago, is now 150 million.
