Education East China Province Lures Talent From Home and Abroad

The governor of east China's Zhejiang province, Chai Songyue, has decided to take in more than 10,000 talented people from home and abroad as it strives to improve its economy.

Experts and executives in machinery, business administration, computers, marketing, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and telecommunications are especially welcome.

More than 600 local enterprises and institutions, 30 percent of which are State-owned, have just announced their talent employment plans.

Zhejiang ranks fourth in the country with a GDP of 498 billion yuan. During the 1979-1998 period, the province saw an annual average rise of 13.5 percent in its GDP, the highest growth rate in the country.
