Education China Spent More in Education in 1998

The latest report by the National Bureau of Statistics says that China invested 294.906

billion yuan in education in 1998, up 16.48 percent from the previous year.

Educational investment accounted for 15.36 percent of China's expenditures last year. Educational expenditure against its national expenditure was less in 1997.

Educational investment accounts for 2.55 percent of the GDP, which was 7955.3 billion yuan last year. The rate is 0.06 percentage points higher than the 2.49 percent for 1997.
