Sci-Tech China's Engineering Sciences Journal Debuts

A ceremony was held in Beijing on November 18 to mark the debut of "Engineering Science," a new Chinese academic journal.

The journal will reflect China's major achievements in the field of engineering sciences and strengthen cooperation and exchanges between Chinese and foreign engineers, said Song Jian, president of the China Academy of Engineering Sciences, in a speech at the ceremony.

More than 10 million Chinese are now working in engineering sciences and they are in urgent need of a top-level academic journal to publish their latest research, Song said.

Engineering sciences are essential to the fast development of high technologies, he said.

Song, a former minister of science and technology, has been appointed chairman of the journal's editorial board. (Xinhua)
