Culture Ancient Graveyard Found in Changsha.

A big graveyard dating back some 1,900 years has recently been unearthed in Changsha in Hunan Province.

Sixteen of the 30 tombs dating from the Eastern Han Dynasty (25- 220 A.D.) have been excavated. One of the graves was occupied by a husband and wife.

Large amounts of funerary objects, such as pottery and jade items have been excavated.

Over 150 small graveyards belonging to the aristocracy of the Han, Tang and Song dynasties have been unearthed one after another in the city.

The most important tombs found in Changsha are located in Baishaling District, where more than 100 graveyards of the Warring States Period (475-221 B.C.) and Eastern Han were unearthed earlier in the year.
