Culture Shanghai International Broadcast Music Festival Opens

The 7th Shanghai International Broadcast Music Festival opened in Shanghai on November 15 evening, welcoming more than 100 broadcasting stations, companies and audio and video corporations from over 30 countries and regions.

Zhou Muyao, Shanghai vice mayor and director of the festival organizing committee, said at the opening ceremony that the event offers a good opportunity for Chinese and overseas people in the music circle to discuss the challenges that will face their industry in the 21st century.

He said the festival is of great importance for spreading China 's broadcast music talent worldwide and enhancing Sino-foreign cooperation in the broadcasting field.

A show of music programs, an exhibition of audio and video products and academic exchanges will be held during the festival, the only event of the kind for China's broadcasting circle.

The bi-annual festival was first held in 1988.
