Culture Auction of Silver Coins In Tianjin

The north China port city of Tianjin will hold a coin auction on November 24, with 802 Chinese coins from 1644 to 1949.

Sales from the auction will be donated to "Project Hope", a national educational campaign which provides financial aid to rural areas in China.

The coins were unearthed during a re-construction project on a 80-year courtyard.

Sun Yat-sen (1866-1925), recognized as the founding father of modern China appears on some 63 coins. Dozens of rare coins from the Qing Dynasty will also be included among the items for auction.
