World Israeli Forces Maintain Siege of Palestinian Camp

Israeli security forces are maintaining the siege imposed on the evening of November 8 on the Kalandia camp along the road linking Jerusalem and the West Bank city of Ramallah.

According to the Voice of Palestine radio, Israeli security forces prevented the entry or departure of camp residents.

In a statement released Monday evening, an Israeli military spokesman said the siege of the camp, housing more than 6,000 Palestinians, came after Israeli security forces were exposed to stones and bottles filled with dyestuff hurled at them by camp residents.

The residents also attempted to provoke Israeli security men and obstruct passage along the Jerusalem-Ramallah road.

The spokesman added that the Israeli army had called upon the camp residents to observe law and order, otherwise, the siege would continue until further notice.
