China Chinese Spokeswoman on Huangyan Island

China demands that the Philippines keep to its pledge and promptly halt all its encroachment on China's Huangyan Island.

This remark was made here today by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue when she was asked to comment on the statement by Philippine Secretary of Defense Orlando Mercado that a Philippine warship had been stranded at Huangyan Island since November 3.

She said that Huangyan Island has been China's territory since ancient times.
