Sci-Tech China Solicits Suggestions from Abroad

Overseas technological experts are encouraged to contribute suggestions for China's technological renovation drive, China Daily reported on November 4.

"The Chinese government will commit more efforts to involving overseas scientists in the country's modernization drive," said State Councilor Wang Zhongyu at the Sino-US Technology and Engineering Conference held on November 4.

The event was organized by the State Economic and Trade Commission, the State Bureau of Foreign Experts and the Chinese Institute of Engineers in the United States.

Participants have made a brief visit to China's 28 key state-owned enterprises, including the Hai'er Group, the Changhong Group, Legend and Wuhan Iron and Steel Company, to have a better understanding of China's current industrial restructuring before they start discussions. (Xinhua)
