Haier Group, one of China's leading producers of home appliances, has started construction on a production base of fluorine-free refrigerators in Qingdao.

With a designed production capacity of one million refrigerators a year, the production base will be the largest of its kind in China, when completed in late 2000. It will cover an area of 50,000 square meters.

The base will also introduce the latest information and technology to produce large, quality refrigerators. (Xinhua)
