Sci-Tech China Develops New Antibiotic

A new type of antibiotic was recently put into production at the Shanghai Hualian Pharmaceutical Company. Experts believe this new antibiotic will help end the monopoly of the drug by foreign companies.

Cephalosporin is effective in preventing infections. Sales of the drug reached 1.3 billion US dollars annually around the world. In the early 1990s, China began to import cephalosporin.
