Sci-Tech Sino-American Technology, Engineering Conference Ends

The Fourth Sino-American Technology and Engineering Conference closed in Beijing November 3, gathering from participants a total of 98 suggestions on technological innovation and upgrading of China's state-owned enterprises (SOEs).

About 70 overseas Chinese scholars and more than 200 experts from China's large or medium-sized SOEs and government departments discussed computers and software, telecommunications, electronics, and other issues currently challenging the development of SOEs.

State Councilor and Secretary-General of the State Council Wang Zhongyu said at the closing ceremony that the experts' discussions are in keeping with the government's focus on speeding up technological innovation and industrial upgrading of China's SOEs.

He noted that the proposals put forward by the experts are practical and easy to put into action, and they will be sent to relevant departments or enterprises for careful review.
