World Israel Tests Arrow Missile System Successfully

Israel carried out a successful test on its Arrow missile system November 1 at the eastern sector of the Mediterranean Sea, said the Defense Ministry.

The missile system will be deployed and put into operation sometime next year, the ministry added.

This was the seventh test of the missile system so far. The first one was conducted in August 1997, but failed.

In September last year, the system successfully hit a target of "coming missile" during the test off the coast of Ashdod.

Arrow is an anti-ballistic missile system consisting of radar, fire control and early warning components. This is the joint missile defense program between Israel and the United States, with a total investment of about 1.6 billion US dollars.

Once the system is deployed, it will greatly enhance Israel's missile defense capability. (Xinhua)
