World Chinese President Meets Moroccan Parliament Leaders

�� Visiting Chinese President Jiang Zemin said that it has been an important content of the political and democratic life of China to undertake parliamentary exchange with foreign countries.

�� "We wholly support the National People's Congress (NPC) of China and Moroccan parliament to strengthen exchange and cooperation so as to promote further development of the bilateral relationship," said Jiang while meeting with Mohamed Essaid, president of Moroccan Senate, and Abdeloughed Radi, president of its Chamber of Representatives.

�� Jiang, who conveyed greetings to the two presidents from Li Peng, NPC chairman, said that Morocco is a country of long history and cultural tradition and also one of the first African countries that have established diplomatic ties with China.

�� The long-term friendly contact between the two countries has demonstrated that countries, even though with different social systems, can have sound and smooth development of relationship so long as they abide by the basic international norms and insist on the five principles of peaceful co-existence, said Jiang.

�� The Chinese President pointed out that this world is big and colorful, and that countries of it will naturally choose social systems that accord with their tradition, culture, history and economic development.

�� "Both China and Morocco support multi-polarization. So the two countries should devote their efforts to the establishment of a just and reasonable international political and economic order and make the new century into one of peace, stability, prosperity and cooperation," he added.

�� Essaid said that the Moroccan parliament will make as usual unremitting efforts to promote the bilateral relationship between the two countries.

�� Radi told Jiang that China is a country of close friendship with Morocco and the two countries are both developing ones with similar experience and goals, and both are making efforts for the establishment of a new international political and economic order.

�� Radi stressed that the world in the 21st century should not be single-polared and that every country has the right of choosing the road of development and social system for itself. Morocco is willing to make positive efforts, together with China, to boost the process of the world multi-polarization, he added.
