China China Develops New Generation of Army Provisions

Chinese soldiers soon will be enjoying a new generation of army food which is more diversified and better tasting.

The General Logistics Department of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) disclosed October 27 that it has developed China's third generation of army provisions.

With the application of such advanced technology as genetic engineering, the new provisions are not only highly condensed but are also very nutritional and delicious, the department said.

A packet of the new provisions, consisting of high-energy, nutritional, and flavorful elements, is sufficient to meet the needs of one man for a whole day, according to a PLA source.

This new generation of military provisions comes in different categories, including those for common use and those for long- distance military operations, so as to meet the needs of different military units and a variety of combat situations.
