World Chinese, French Presidents Meet Press

  Visiting Chinese President Jiang Zemin and French President Jacques Chirac met the press in Paris October 25 morning after they held talks.

  Chirac first recalled in his opening address the talks between him and Jiang, saying that these talks have helped deepen understanding between the two presidents.

  Jiang expressed satisfaction over the development of bilateral relations and cooperation in the political, economic, trade and cultural fields.

  "We both hold that cooperation between the two countries still have great potential and broad prospect of development," Jiang said in his opening address.

  The two presidents answered questions on bilateral relations and cooperation, the multi-polarization of the world and the democratic process in China.

 More than 300 journalists attended the 40-minute press conference. (Xinhua)
