BEIJING, Oct. 27 -- Volkswagen China will recall 1,516 imported vehicles in China due to a defect in the panoramic roof system.
Starting from March 2, 2015, the recall involves Beetle models of 2.0T, 1.4T, and 1.2T, manufactured between June 13, 2013 and July 1, 2014, according to a statement from China's General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine.
Due to defects in the production process, the glass used for the panoramic roof may break in conditions of low temperatures and bumpy roads, the statement said.
The carmaker offered to replace the roof system for free to eliminate the risks.
The latest recall came just weeks after the firm's announcement to recall 581,090 cars in China due to a defect in the rear axles, which stirred widespread complaints among customers.
