HELSINKI, Oct. 22 -- The Finnish elevator and escalator manufacturer Kone said that nearly 40 percent of its orders received and 30 percent of total sales have came from China.
Kone reported its strong growth in its interim report for the third quarter of 2014 with an year-on-year increase of orders received, net sales and operating profit, reported Finnish daily Helsingin Sanomat on Wednesday.
In the third quarter this year, Kone's net sales was 6.9 billion euros, which increased by 8 percent from a year ago; orders received increased by 1.58 billion, which is about 19 percent more than one year earlier.
China is still the most important market for Kone, said the company in its interim report, nearly 40 percent of its orders received and 30 percent of total sales came from China.
The orders from China grew by 20 percent in the third quarter, even though the elevator and escalator market grew by only 10 percent in the country.
Concerning the Kone's success in China, Timo Nikinmaa, project director from the Finnish Economy Research Institute, explained to the daily that Kone has noticed the emerging of the Chinese economy and the urbanization process undergoing in China.
