According to Pu'er Daily, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) recently approved in principle the People's Government of Yunnan's bid to establish a National Green Economy Pilot Demonstration Zone, through its reply to the document Development Plan of Pu'er City for Establishing a National Green Economy Pilot Demonstration Zone (2012-2020) (abbreviated as the Plan in the following section). This means that Pu'er has gained great support on the national level for its strategic decisions to build the pilot zone, marking its entrance of the new implementation stage.

In July 2010, the city of Pu'er put forward the plan to build the National Green Economy Pilot Demonstration Zone. The Plan was approved this March. As its next move, the city of Pu'er will continue with its implementation of the pilot demonstration zone and motivate the local economy and society to go through the green and low-carbon development cycles in order to build the new ecological culture.
