The conference, which focuses on some of the challenges that modern society faces and how sustainable and innovative solutions can help meet these challenges, includes a series of seminars and discussions that involve a large number of business representatives and politicians from both China and Denmark.

"It is rewarding to see how our two countries exchange experiences and share best practices in all fields of society," said Queen Margrethe II, who arrived in Beijing with his husband Prince Consort, four ministers, and a large delegation from the Danish business community for a 5-day state visit Thursday.

"The friendship between Denmark and China has deep historical roots. The relations between China and Denmark have always been characterized by our commitment to peace, respect and friendship," she said.

The Queen also expressed her hope to further foster efforts of mutual learning and share Danish experiences and solutions that have contributed to the creation of a sustainable and innovative society with China in realizing the Chinese Dream.

Yan Junqi, Vice Chairwoman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, delivered a speech at the opening conference on behalf of the Chinese side.

"Over the last few decades, China has not only changed in terms of the outlook of its cities and countries or statistics, but also in its ideas and pursuits that combines tradition with modernity," said Yan.

"China has achieved success in energy conservation and environmental protection in multi-aspects, but it should also be recognized that imbalance of development still prevails in the Chinese society. It has become a priority of the government to build an eco-friendly China," she said.

"The Conference has built a platform for different circles of China and Denmark to conduct dialogue on cooperation, development and friendship. We believe the future of China will be green and vibrant, and so will be the friendship between China and Denmark," she said.
