Four young men, who used to be IT engineers, set up a snack store named "Young Master Xi‘s Hamburger" in the busy street of Wudaokou in Beijing.

The four abandoned their well-paid jobs in IT companies such as Tencent, Alibaba and Baidu, and began to sell Shaanxi Burger, a special snack of pork and Chinese bun popular in Shaanxi Province.

All graduated from Xi'an Jiaotong University, a prestigious university in China, the four former IT engineers chose to sell burgers because of homesickness – as they said-- they were dying to eat authentic Shaanxi food.

They were bored about programming job and unsatisfied with their salaries, though higher than average, they were far from affording an apartment somewhere around Wudaokou.

"Our goal is not as simple as to make a living through the store. We started our business for the numerous possibilities in future," said Meng Bing, the head of the team.

The store was opened on April 8. Till now, it has maintained an average daily sales of over 10,000 yuan (about 1,538 US dollars).

"It’s beyond our expectation that we’d have so many customers even on the first day," said Meng. "Our goal is to make Young Master Xi’s hamburger an international food chain. And now we are planning to set up a second flagship store. "
