South Korea’s passenger ship “SEWOL” with 462 people aboard, most of whom being high school students, sank in waters off of South Korea’s southwest coast Wednesday morning, leaving at least eight people dead. 179 people were rescued and 288 others were still missing, according to the Yonhap News. This morning, more ships were dispatched to the scene for the rescue operation. Some relatives of the missing passengers also joined the recue works.
The water temperature was 12.6 degrees Celsius when the accident happened, so the survival chance is very low, said local experts.
