Sotheby’s Hong Kong unveiled an ancient porcelain cup of the Meiyintang Collection at a press conference in Hong Kong on March 12, 2014. The estimated price of the Meiyintang Chenghua “Chicken Cup” to be auctioned is at least 200 million Hong Kong dollars (US$25.6 million). The cup was made in the reign of Emperor Chenghua (1147-1487) during Ming Dynasty. It is well known for its sensuous pleasure of the touch and its extremely fine, clear and tactile white paste characteristic. |
