On March 9, China's icebreaker "Xuelong" successfully pulled out of the "devil westerlies" and entered the Indian Ocean. The expedition team members throw GPS meteorological sounding balloon every day to detect the meteorological parameters including temperature, humidity, wind speed, wind direction.
The westerlies, located in South latitude 40 degrees to 60 degrees, are labeled as the "devil waters". The Pacific Ocean, the Indian Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean join here. There are six to seven cyclones moving from west to east every year.
