The Chinese Embassy in Cape Verde on Monday handed over a donation of equipments for water harvesting in rural zones to Cape Verde's Rural Development Ministry, official sources in Praia have said.
China's ambassador Su Jian said the equipments valued at a total of 1.58 million U.S. dollars will help to increase the volume of water available for agricultural purposes.
He said that beyond the equipments that were offered, China will offer a one month training program on installation of the equipments.
Su said already China and Cape Verde are working on numerous projects and in the coming years, the two countries will strengthen their ties in sectors such as agriculture, health and education.
In 2014, the two partners hope to launch other initiatives, especially the construction of a plant for transformation of agricultural produce.
Cape Verde's Rural Development Minister Eva Ortet said the equipments offered by China will help the country to accumulate more water which is necessary for irrigation projects.
