YANGON, Jan. 9 -- Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Yang Houlan stressed on Thursday development of "Paukphaw" (fraternal) friendship and strengthening of win-win cooperation with Myanmar.

Yang made the remarks in his speech at Myanmar Institute for Strategic and International Studies (MISIS) in Yangon.

Speaking on China-Myanmar relations, Yang said mutual benefit and win-win cooperation is the main tone of the relations.

Commenting on some mixed voices on China-Myanmar relations spreading along with the acceleration of Myanmar's political and social transformation over the past two years, Yang turned down some untrue allegations about China.

Noting that China's neighborhood is crucial to its security, development and prosperity, Yang said the new generation of the central leadership of China attaches great importance to the surrounding areas and peripheral diplomacy.

He assures China will play an active role in creating a more peaceful, stable and prosperous peripheral environment, saying that China will use its rapid economic development to benefit the neighboring countries, better and achieve common development.

He cited a good example with one of the cultural exchange between the two countries as the successful and substantial cooperation in Myanmar's hosting of the 27th Southeast Asian Games.

He also spoke of the fact that Chinese people have always valued the loyalty towards friends and continuously enhance mutual trust with the Myanmar side through sincere attitude, equal consultation and strategic communication.

"The Chinese side always respect the choice and decision made by the Myanmar people in terms of political system and development path and will not interfere in Myanmar's internal affairs," he maintained.

Moreover, he said China always supports Myanmar's efforts to develop friendly and cooperative ties with other nations on the basis of the five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, which were initiated by China, Myanmar and India in 1950s.

Recalling that China-Myanmar relations enjoyed profound historical heritages, he said bilateral cooperation in recent years has maintained a good momentum of development in all fields.

China wants to see a peaceful, stable and prosperous Myanmar which is in line with the interest of the people of Myanmar, China and other countries in the region, he said, believing that as long as keeping confidence firmly and maintaining good tradition of equality, mutual trust and cooperation, the China-Myanmar cooperation will usher in a brighter tomorrow.

He added that with Myanmar's rising influence in regional affairs and the assumption of ASEAN chairmanship, the cooperative space will continue to be expanded between the two countries.

As for the prospects of China-Myanmar relations, Ambassador Yang raised four proposals with the first to continuously deepen mutual strategic trust, the second to continue to expand mutually beneficial cooperation, the third to further expand people-to- people contact and cultural exchange and the fourth to make efforts in strengthening coordination and cooperation international and regional affairs.

After the talk, when interviewed by Xinhua, both Chairman of MISIS U Nyunt Maung Shein and Professor Dr. Khin Maung Nyunt, who is member of Myanmar Historical Commission and member of Central Executive Committee of Myanmar Writers and Journalists Association, praised Yang's remarks as good, believing China's stance would contribute to the betterment of China-Myanmar relations.
