YANGON, Dec. 11 -- A total of 41 more remaining prisoners of conscience in Myanmar were released Wednesday from prisons across the country under a fresh amnesty order of President U Thein Sein, according to official sources.
Myanmar last freed 69 prisoners of conscience on Nov. 15 under an amnesty order of the president.
The government has promised to release all political prisoners by this year-end.
The number of the freed prisoners has added up to 29,861 since the new civilian government took office on March 30, 2011.
The government reformed the Committee for Scrutinizing Remaining Prisoners of Conscience in May this year to handle the case.
