Chinese state councilor meets Ecuadorian foreign minister

BEIJING, Nov. 20 -- Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi met with Ecuadorian Foreign Minister Ricardo Patino in Beijing on Wednesday.

China and Ecuador have enjoyed growing political mutual trust and productive pragmatic cooperation. China appreciates Ecuador's efforts in promoting China's partnership with Latin America and is willing to work with Ecuador to push forward bilateral ties and China-Latin America relations to a new level, Yang said.

Patino congratulated China on the success of the third plenary session of the 18th Communist Party of China Central Committee, saying his country attaches great importance to bilateral ties and is ready to deepen political, trade and cultural cooperation with China.

Patino is paying an official visit to China from Nov. 18 to 20 at the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. Both co-chaired the 7th political consultations between the two foreign ministries on Wednesday.
